SCALEXTRIC VINTAGE TRANSAM
NORTH AMERICA 2012 NATIONAL FINAL RESULTS
The 2012 Scalextric Vintage Trans Am North America Championship race was run Sunday, May 6 2012 at Great Traditions in Philadelphia, PA. Participants came from regional qualifying races held across N. America, from Western Canada to Florida.
After installation of handout motors and tires, tech inspection was completed. Racers were then given 10 laps to test their cars, and their best lap time was used to seed qualifying order, placing the top lap times in the middle of the pack, to keep those with best lap times racing next to each other.
John Grover took the early lead, finishing his 4 race segments with a total of 300 laps. James Drayton followed John in the rotation, and assumed the overall lead with 307 laps, including high lap total at that point of 78 laps on the blue lane. Joseph Rosales rotated in, and proceeded to post high lap totals on each of the 4 lanes, tying James' 78 on blue. Dean Kirkpatrick followed Joseph in the rotation, and came within a couple laps of Joseph when he ran 79 laps on blue, surpassing the previous high total for that lane. Although Dean finished with an impressive 78 laps on white, it was not enough to catch Joseph, who won the 2012 Scalextric Vintage Trans Am North America Championship.
