RACER SIDEWAYS DAYTONA PROTOTYPE

NORTH AMERICA 2013 NATIONAL FINAL RESULTS

The 2013 Racer Sideways Daytona Prototype North America Championships were run this past Sunday April 28, 2013. 10 Racers who either advanced from prior qualifying races this season, or had prior championship exemptions, participated at Great Traditions in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Each racer would run 10 minutes on each of the 4 lanes on the Carrera layout.

Handout Slot.IT silicone tires, and hand out Slot.IT 21.5k motors, pre-tested to be within 900 RPM variance were used. After cars passed tech inspection, drivers were given 10 laps to get a feel for their cars with the new motors and tires. In addition, the driver's best lap time during that period was used to determine the starting lineup order. Those with best lap times were grouped in the middle of the lineup, those with the highest lap times were placed at the extremes of the lineup. In this way, those with the lowest lap times ran together in the round robin format. Top qualifier was Dave Davis, with a 6.727 best lap time.

After the first four drivers rotated in, Bob Kuss was the first to finish all 4 lanes, and put up the target lap total of 325 laps, including a race day high of 83 laps on the yellow lane. Top qualifier Dave Davis was next in the rotation, and he eclipsed Bob's total, finishing with 331 laps, highlighted by an 84 lap run on inside gutter white lane.

Following Dave was Robert Holt, who got off to a good start on outside gutter red with 83 laps, but had a relatively bad run on the next lane. Holt was able to come back and finished with 333 laps to take the lead. Dan McCollum and Martin Dixon followed and had impressive runs, both posting sub 7 second lap times. In the end, Holt finished first, followed by Davis, McCollum and Dixon.
