RACER RESIN

NORTH AMERICA 2015 NATIONAL FINAL RESULTS

The 2015 Racer Resin North America Championships were run this past Sunday December 6, 2015 at Great Traditions in Philadelphia, PA.  22 racers who either advanced from prior qualifying races this season, or had prior championship exemptions, participated in the championship race. This race was held in memory of two great people who contributed a lot of competition and good times to most of those assembled, Jim Connelly and Tony Easley. Their lives on this planet were too short, but those who had the honor of knowing them and spending any time with them, still remember the good times they brought with them, anywhere they raced. How they finished wasn't as important as how much fun they and others had. We miss both of them greatly.

Handout Quick Slicks silicone tires, and hand out GTSLOTS Piranah 21.5k motors, pre-tested to be within close RPM and torque variance, were used. After cars passed tech inspection, drivers were given 20 laps to get a feel for their cars with the new motors and tires. In addition, the driver's best lap time during that period was used to determine the starting lineup order. Those with best lap times were grouped in the middle of the lineup, those with the highest lap times were placed at the extremes of the lineup. In this way, those with the lowest lap times ran together in the round robin format. Top qualifier was Dan McCollum, with a 6.757 best lap time, followed by Robert Holt with a 6.780, and Martin Dixon at 6.797.

Race format was round robin, with each racer running 10 minutes on each of the 4 lanes on the banked Carrera layout. First to complete their 4 runs was Eric Hans, whose 310 laps took the lead. Paul Pearlman with 324, Arron Moore with 328, then Bob Kuss with 331 assumed the lead. A bit later, the top 3 qualifiers, Dan McCollum, Martin Dixon and Robert Holt rotated in. There was close racing, with Martin setting high lap total at the time on gutter red lane, only to have Dan beat that by a lap when he ran red. Holt was able to catch up with the others, and won the 2015 Racer Resin N. America Finals. Results of the 2015 Racer Resin North America Championship:
